Amigos da Terceira - Organization

	Founded in October of 1988 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, by Victor Santos.
	Incorporated in November of 1992.
	Opened its headquarters in May of 1993 at 56 Brook Street, Central Falls.
	Became a 501(c3) status non-profit Federal Tax exempt organization in November of 1993.
	Present membership: 800 members.
	Over $700,000 donated since its founding towards charitable work to many needy families in Southeastern New England, orphanages overseas, and scholarships.
	Opened its new headquarters and Community Center on October 15, 1998, on the Tenth Anniversary of the founding of the organization at 55 Memorial Drive, Pawtucket, RI.

	To assist needy families in Southeastern New England with food, clothing, and other basic needs.
	To assist orphanages and non-profit elderly rest homes overseas with clothing and food.
	To promote cultural events that will enhance and maintain Portuguese culture in our region.
	To provide scholarships to the community youth. (NOTE: The organization does not discriminate regarding someone's race, ethnic origin, nationality, sex, or religion when it comes to helping anyone in need, or accepting them as members of the organization. After careful investigation, only need and income are the factors involved in deciding on assistance.)
